Telegram, a widely used messaging platform, has introduced several new features in its latest update, designed to improve user experience and enhance security. Among the notable additions are a new method for verifying third-party accounts, improved message search filters, and the option to turn gifts into NFTs (non-fungible tokens).
Third-Party Account Verification
In the past, Telegram had verification programs for public figures and organizations. Now, the platform has initiated a project that allows third-party entities, like food quality regulators or educational organizations, to verify accounts. Verified accounts under this new initiative will display a distinctive logo, replacing the traditional blue checkmark. In a blog post, Telegram mentioned that this decentralized verification system aims to combat fraud and minimize the spread of misinformation. The company described it as an innovative solution that establishes a new benchmark for safety on social media platforms. Individuals or organizations wishing to obtain verification must complete the necessary process and apply for the verified badge.

Turning Gifts into NFTs
Telegram has also rolled out a feature that enables users to convert digital gifts into NFTs. These gifts can be sent using Telegram Stars, which can be bought through the app or the Fragment website, requiring a connected TON crypto wallet. Telegram noted that users can sell or trade these NFTs on other platforms. However, a fee will apply for converting Telegram gifts into collectibles to cover the expenses associated with blockchain technology.
Enhanced Search Filters and Emoji Reactions
The update further includes new emoji reaction features for service messages, such as when someone joins a group. Additionally, new search filters for private chats, group chats, and channels have been added, making it simpler for users to find specific messages. Telegram continues to innovate, equipping its users with tools to enhance communication, security, and engagement on the platform.
