Pakistan Gears Up for ICC Champions Trophy 2025: PCB Chairman Assures Readiness
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi has assured cricket fans that Pakistan is fully prepared to host the much-anticipated ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Speaking at the Curtain Raiser event held at the historic Dewan-e-Khas of Lahore Fort, Naqvi welcomed distinguished guests, including past champions from the 2017 tournament, and reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to delivering a world-class cricketing spectacle.
Highlighting the significance of the venue, Naqvi said, "This event is not only a celebration of cricket but also a reflection of Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage and its deep-rooted love for the game."
Naqvi revealed that preparations are in full swing, with four international teams already arriving in Karachi. England and Australia are expected to land in Lahore within the next 48 hours, marking the beginning of an electrifying build-up to the tournament.
Emphasizing the extensive efforts behind the event, Naqvi praised the transformation of Karachi Stadium and Gaddafi Stadium, which have been upgraded into state-of-the-art facilities. He commended the dedication of workers who completed these enhancements in record time, ensuring Pakistan's readiness to host international teams.
Expressing gratitude to the International Cricket Council (ICC) for its continuous support, Naqvi acknowledged the significance of this occasion, stating, "The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 returns to Pakistan after 29 years, and it is a proud moment for our cricket-loving nation."
He described the tournament as more than just a sporting event, calling it an opportunity to showcase Pakistan’s renowned hospitality and unwavering passion for cricket. He extended his appreciation to players, PCB board members, government officials, and security agencies for their efforts in making this dream a reality.
Reflecting on how two generations of Pakistani fans had missed witnessing an ICC global event on home soil, Naqvi encouraged the nation to seize the moment. "This is your time to fill the stadiums, support your teams, and be part of history," he urged, rallying the crowd with a spirited exclamation: "Pakistan Zindabad!"
