Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif launched a significant initiative on Monday to provide free plots to homeless and deserving families throughout the province. This announcement took place during the inauguration of the Maskan Ravi Housing Scheme in Kala Shah Kaku, a project aimed at uplifting low-income families by giving them the chance to own land and build their homes.
A Commitment to the People
During her speech at the event, Maryam Nawaz highlighted her family's enduring dedication to public service. "Nawaz Sharif’s politics has always focused on serving the people. Every development project in this country reflects his commitment," she remarked.
As part of the new initiative, the government will offer 3-marla plots at no cost to eligible individuals, especially in areas close to urban centres. This initiative is anticipated to address the pressing housing issues faced by many families in the province.
Tackling Punjab's Housing Crisis
The chief minister recognized the persistent housing crisis, pointing out that numerous families in Punjab still lack permanent residence. "There are many people in Punjab who do not own a house and cannot afford one. This scheme is intended for such deserving individuals," she explained.
Maryam Nawaz also shared ambitious plans for housing development in the province, aiming to construct 100 houses within just two and a half months under the Maskan Ravi Housing Scheme. Additionally, thousands of other homes are currently being built across Punjab. Over the next five years, the government intends to construct 100,000 houses and provide homes for 500,000 families.
Infrastructure and Public Services Expansion
In conjunction with the housing initiative, the chief minister announced several other important infrastructure and public service projects. She mentioned that 400 roads are currently under construction across Punjab to enhance connectivity and public transport. Moreover, 25 electric buses have already been delivered to Karachi, with an additional 500 buses to improve the transportation system.
A Vision for the Future
In closing, the chief minister reiterated her dedication to realizing Nawaz Sharif's vision for an improved Punjab. "We are pinpointing sites in heavily populated regions close to urban centres to designate land for housing. Every deserving family will have a place to call home," she stated. The Maskan Ravi Housing Scheme marks a significant advancement in meeting the housing demands of Punjab’s most at-risk communities, offering them a chance to enhance their quality of life.
