Punjab Launches Largest-Ever Business Finance Scheme
Punjab has launched its first and largest "Business Finance Scheme" to enhance the local economy and assist entrepreneurs. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced this initiative, emphasizing its potential to stimulate economic growth and boost exports.
Key Highlights of the Business Finance Scheme
The government has set aside over PKR 84 billion for the Aasaan Karobaar Program. Out of this, PKR 48 billion is allocated for the Aasaan Karobaar Card Scheme, while more than PKR 36 billion will be provided as interest-free loans through the Aasaan Karobaar Finance Scheme. Loans will range from PKR 1 million to PKR 30 million, with a flexible repayment period of up to five years.
An easy-to-navigate online portal, akf.punjab.gov.pk, has been established for loan applications and information, allowing users to access the program conveniently from home.
Supporting Startups and Small Businesses
The Aasaan Karobaar Card Scheme specifically targets startups and small businesses, offering interest-free loans of up to PKR 1 million. Borrowers can repay the loan over three years in manageable instalments. The scheme also facilitates payments to vendors for raw materials, government fees, taxes, and utility bills.
Moreover, residents of Punjab, including men, women, transgender individuals, and differently-abled persons, are eligible to apply for the Aasaan Karobaar Card. Cardholders can withdraw up to 25% of the loan amount in cash.
Empowering Youth and Enhancing Livelihoods
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz highlighted that the program is designed to promote self-employment among the youth. She mentioned, "Our goal is to guide young individuals towards self-reliance. The government also must provide job opportunities after education." She urged every young person in Punjab to engage in economic development through this initiative.
The program also aims to empower vulnerable groups, ensuring that everyone can participate in economic activities. Those aged between 25 and 55, who are active tax filers and not defaulters of any financial institution, are eligible for the loans.
Boosting Punjab’s Economy
Through this comprehensive program, the Punjab government seeks to enhance the province’s economy and elevate living standards. The Aasaan Karobaar Finance Scheme is anticipated to encourage entrepreneurship, boost exports, and generate job opportunities.
The launch of this initiative demonstrates the government’s dedication to promoting economic stability and empowering its citizens. This ambitious plan represents a significant milestone for Punjab, establishing a standard for inclusive and sustainable development.
